'The Office' star Jenna Fisher reveals which celebrity had a 'new' reaction to her cancer news
Jenna Fisher has revealed that her celebrity pal and fellow actress Christina Applegate had a “salty” reaction to her cancer diagnosis.
The “Office” alum — who played Pam Beasley on the hit NBC sitcom — revealed earlier this month that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Appearing on the “Today” show, Fisher said he received his diagnosis in October 2023. Her husband, Lee Kirk, was the first to tell her about the news.
One of the first friends she decided to share the news of her health problems with was Applegate, with whom she co-starred in the 2011 film “Hall Pass.”
“I called him, and he answered the phone, and he said, 'Which one is it?' And I said, 'It's breast cancer.' And he said, 'I knew it.'
“He's salty. Salty language is that one. I love her for it,” Fisher said of Applegate, who is living with multiple sclerosis.
The 50-year-old actress shared that she underwent treatment and is now cancer free.
“After completing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation I am now cancer free,” she wrote.
However, the road to recovery was not always smooth.
Fisher told fans that she had a lumpectomy in January to remove the tumor, which thankfully didn't spread because doctors caught it early. Due to the “aggressive nature” of her cancer, the star required chemotherapy and radiation.
He underwent 12 rounds of weekly chemo starting in February and began his three weeks of radiation in June. Fisher was treated with two more drug infusions.
“I'm happy to say I'm feeling great,” she shared in an Instagram post.
“I lost my hair during chemotherapy but thanks to some great wigs and hair caps (affectionately called wigats by my family) I've been able to wait until now to reveal what I'm going through,” Fisher added, “I I am making this announcement for a few reasons.”
“One, I'm ready to rip off the wig. Two, urging you to have your annual mammogram. You can also ask your doctor to calculate your breast cancer risk assessment score and get additional screenings as needed. I'm serious, call your doctors now,” she said.
Fisher also gave a special shout out to her former “The Office” co-stars Angela Kinsey and her husband Joshua Snyder.
Fisher has been married to her husband, director Lee Kirk, since 2010. The couple has two children: son Weston Lee and daughter Harper Marie.
